2013 ASAE Annual Meeting: Harnessing the Power of Introverts

Published by: Melissa Madigan, Marketing Coordinator, ACGI Software

Next week, I’ll be joining seven of my colleagues at ASAE’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta. This conference has a lot in store for attendees, from the opening reception at the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola (woohoo!), to creative learning, game changer and education sessions on an assortment of “hot” topics.

When I’m not at ACGI Software’s booth (#541) during Expo Hours, I’ll be taking in sessions and sharing my experiences on TwitterFacebook and Instagram. Make sure to use the official hashtag #asae13 when sharing your own content!

The Opening General Session led by Susan Cain, author of Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking, will officially launch the conference. Susan’s works have been featured in the NY Times, the Oprah Magazine and Time.com. Her session–naturally reflecting her book title –is, “Quiet: How to Harness the Strengths of Introverts to Change How We Work, Lead and Innovate.” ASAE’s website describes the session this way:

“In an enlightening, and practical talk, Susan Cain shows that introverts think and work in ways that are crucial to the survival of today’s organizations.”

Does your association need some restructuring to accommodate the ideas of introverts? What can you learn from introverts’ problem solving and creativity? Questions like these are sure to spark new thinking and empower your association to re-visualize what some see as weakness, as strength.

The fact that Susan Cain, an introvert, is giving a keynote speech at ASAE 2013 is proof in itself of facing these types of challenges head-on. Our team at ACGI faces its own challenges, but we’re always open to hearing how we can enhance our product to better suit customer needs. In fact, a lot of feedback comes directly from our clients at our monthly Association Anywhere Users Group meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month. If you’re a current customer and would like to participate in the upcoming meeting on August 13th, send us an email or call 410-772-8950, x4733.

If you’re interested in attending Susan’s session at the ASAE Annual Meeting, it takes place Sunday, Aug 4 at 8:30-9:45am. We look forward to seeing everyone there, and don’t forget to stop by ACGI Software’s exhibit for a chance to win a Bem Wireless Speaker Trio! We’ll be sharing details on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to connect with us before the conference!
