Two ACGI representatives, Myron Spence and Paul Burke, will be at the CESSE 2013 Annual Meeting next week, July 16-18, in Providence, Rhode Island. You can visit our display in the resource center to chat or schedule a demonstration of Association Anywhere. You’ll also receive a free gift just for stopping by!
The opening session this year, led by Jeff De Cagna, FRSA, FASAE, chief strategist and founder of Principled Innovation LLC, has definitely caught our attention by the title alone: Associations Unorthodox: Six Really Radical Shifts Toward the Future.
Jeff will share six shifts, outlined in his new e-book, that will help you break free of your conventional beliefs about 20th-century association management and think differently about the future — and the next generation of association stakeholders.
We don’t want to spoil this exciting session or his e-book for you, so here is just a glimpse of the first three shifts and a few “unorthodox” questions Jeff proposes for a new way of thinking and taking action:
Shift #1: De-emphasize Membership. “How can your association benefit from the “halo effect” created by building and sustaining a strong brand that lives in the hearts and minds of your current and future stakeholders?”
Shift #2: Crowdsource Strategy. “The era of strategic planning is over. Associations can crowd source strategy to engage stakeholders, shorten the learning curve and build more adaptive and resilient business models.”
Shift #3: Eliminate Budget. “How could a more flexible approach to resource allocation help build greater trust among your association’s key decision-makers?”
